Mullen’s High-Performance EV Promises 0-60 MPH in Under Two Seconds and a Top Speed Exceeding 200 MPH
Mullen, the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has taken the stage at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas to reveal the Five RS, a high-performance electric crossover that aims to set new benchmarks in the EV market. Boasting an impressive 1,000 horsepower and acceleration capabilities of under two seconds for the 0-60 mph sprint, the Five RS introduces a blend of cutting-edge technology and top-tier performance. Here’s a closer look at the key features of the Mullen Five RS:
Power and Performance:
The Five RS is equipped with dual motors located at the front and rear axles, delivering an astounding 1,000 horsepower and over 850 lb-ft of torque.
Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is claimed to take under two seconds, placing the Five RS among the fastest electric crossovers in terms of acceleration.
A top speed of 200 mph or higher is achieved with the help of a Porsche Taycan-style two-speed gearbox and an innovative aerodynamic setup.
Design and Aerodynamics:
The exterior design features a distinctive rear wing and spoiler, along with a front duct that contributes to the aerodynamic efficiency of the crossover.
Mullen’s design solution integrates vents and inlets, reminiscent of supercars, enhancing both form and function.
Performance Driving Mode:
The Five RS introduces an “ultra-performance race-track” mode designed to optimize various vehicle parameters, including throttle mapping, powertrain response, battery cooling, damper settings, and steering feel.
This mode is aimed at providing drivers with an exhilarating and consistent high-performance driving experience.
Braking and Handling:
The Five RS is equipped with six-piston Brembo brakes at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear, gripping carbon ceramic discs for efficient braking performance.
High-performance 21-inch rear wheels and 20-inch front wheels contribute to the vehicle’s handling capabilities.
Battery and Charging:
A 100 kWh battery pack powers the Five RS, with an estimated range of up to 300 miles per charge.
The EV features an 800V architecture, enabling rapid charging from zero to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes.
Interior and Technology:
The interior boasts premium Nubuck leather and Alcantara-trimmed seats with carbon fiber backs, offering a blend of luxury and lightweight design.
Advanced technology includes an integrated infotainment system, AI-based personal assistance named Persona, facial recognition technology, and level 2+ driver assistance features.
Production and Availability:
Mullen aims to commence production of the Five RS in late 2025, with sales expected to begin in mid-2026.
Additional versions of the SUV, including an entry-level variant priced at $55,000, are planned for subsequent releases.
The Mullen Five RS emerges as a formidable player in the EV market, pushing the boundaries of electric crossover performance and technology. With its exceptional power, aerodynamic design, and advanced features, the Five RS positions Mullen as a serious contender in the high-performance electric vehicle segment.
