Hennessey Performance’s Special Division, Hennessey Special Operations, to Produce Limited Run of 12 High-Performance Vehicles

Hennessey Performance has revealed plans for an extreme version of the Dodge Challenger Demon 170, aptly named the Demon 1700 Twin Turbo, boasting a massive 1,700 horsepower. This high-performance model will be produced by Hennessey Special Operations (HSO), a newly-formed department dedicated to creating exclusive and powerful vehicles for the most discerning customers. The production of the Hennessey Demon 1700 Twin Turbo is limited to just 12 units, with upgrades costing around $200,000, excluding the base car.

Contrary to Hennessey’s usual practice of upgrading OEM engines, the Demon 1700 Twin Turbo will feature a completely new V8 engine built in-house, replacing the original 6.2-liter supercharged V8. The new powerplant will incorporate a pair of massive turbochargers, contributing to the remarkable power output of 1,700 horsepower. This engine is a substantial upgrade from the standard Demon 170, which produces 1,025 horsepower. The vehicle is estimated to cover the quarter-mile in an impressive 7.9 seconds at 175 mph (281 km/h), a full second faster than the stock Demon 170.

Hennessey has not disclosed the full list of modifications, but it ensures that the original engines removed during the upgrades will be preserved, allowing owners to revert their vehicles back to stock if desired.

John Hennessey, the founder of Hennessey Performance, expressed excitement about the new venture, stating, “We are happy to announce that we’ve created a new division within the company that allows us to build mega-powerful vehicles in small production runs.” The Demon 1700 Twin Turbo exemplifies Hennessey’s commitment to high-horsepower vehicles and marks the beginning of the Hennessey Special Operations department.

The exclusive nature of this limited-run model, combined with its astronomical power figures, positions the Hennessey Demon 1700 Twin Turbo as one of the most potent and collectible road-legal muscle cars ever produced.
