Carbon fiber shortage impacts accessory costs for 2024 Corvette models.
The 2024 Corvette has undergone several updates and launched the new hybrid Corvette C8 E-Ray. However, it comes with a significant price increase, affecting various aspects of the vehicle. In addition to the $2,100 price bump across all trims and variants, GM Authority has discovered yet another increase related to the Coupe Engine Appearance Package (RPO code B6P).
The 2024 Corvette, including the Stingray, Z06, and E-Ray coupe body style variants, has seen a notable price hike for the Coupe Engine Appearance Package. Previously priced at $895, this package now commands $1,495, marking a $600 increase. It is worth noting that the B6P package is exclusive to Corvette coupe configurations, while convertible models offer the Convertible Engine Appearance Package (RPO code ZZ3) at a price of $995. This package includes carbon fiber closeout panels on each side of the engine and LED engine compartment illumination.
The price hike is attributed to the challenges in the carbon fiber supply chain, with many carbon fiber components facing constraints and significant cost increases. This issue has had a domino effect on other related accessories. Notably, carbon fiber aero packages for the 2024 Corvette Z06, such as the Carbon Flash-painted carbon fiber package (RPO code T0F) and the visible carbon fiber package (T0G), are facing constraints of 30 percent and 20 percent, respectively. Consequently, the Z07 Performance Package (RPO code Z07) is also under constraint, causing delays in the production and delivery of some Corvette Z06 vehicles.
GM equips each 2024 Corvette variant with a unique engine configuration. The Stingray is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, producing 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The Corvette Z06 is propelled by a naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine, generating 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. In contrast, the 2024 E-Ray utilizes a combination of the LT2 engine and an electric motor on the front axle, delivering 655 horsepower and the brand’s first all-wheel-drive drivetrain.
These price increases and supply constraints are notable challenges for Corvette enthusiasts.
