Disney+ is set to release a new documentary series titled “Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story,” recounting the remarkable tale of Ross Brawn’s efforts in saving the former Honda works team after the Japanese manufacturer withdrew from F1. The documentary features interviews with key figures including Ross Brawn, drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, technical director Nick Fry, and Red Bull’s Christian Horner. The series promises exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and access to previously unseen F1 archives.
Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves hosts the documentary and serves as an executive producer alongside BAFTA winner Neil Duncanson. The four-part series will delve into one of the most extraordinary stories in F1 history, beginning with Honda’s attempts to sell its works team in 2008. When no buyer was found, Ross Brawn took over the team for a nominal fee of one pound, securing a Mercedes engine supply for the 2009 season.
Despite financial challenges, the Brawn GP team, equipped with the innovative RA109 car, dominated the 2009 season. The documentary chronicles their incredible journey, including Jenson Button’s victorious campaign that culminated in winning the Drivers’ Championship.
The series will be available for streaming on Disney+ and Hulu in the US starting from November 15, 2023. “Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story” is anticipated to be a must-watch for both Formula 1 enthusiasts and fans of remarkable sports stories.
