Lexus 2024 model updates: RC F Track Edition axed, minor changes for rest of Lineup

Lexus has unveiled its 2024 model year updates, which include some minor revisions to the RC and RC F coupes. However, the most significant news is the discontinuation of the aggressive RC F Track Edition.

The end of the RC F Track Edition:
The RC F Track Edition, introduced in 2020, was created to compete with high-performance rivals like the BMW M3 Competition and Mercedes-AMG C63. It featured lightweight carbon fiber components and focused performance enhancements while retaining the standard RC F’s naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine. However, the Track Edition came with a hefty price tag of $101,170 for the 2024 model year, significantly more expensive than its competitors. As a result, Lexus has decided to discontinue it, despite the allure of its glorious V8 engine.

The rest of the RC lineup:
While changes are minimal in the rest of the RC range, the future of the RC lineup seems uncertain. The lineup includes the 300, 300 AWD, 350, and 350 AWD trims. The 300 is equipped with a twin-turbo four-cylinder engine, generating 241 hp, while the 300 AWD features a 3.5-liter V6 producing 260 hp. The 350 and 350 AWD models come with a tuned 3.5-liter V6, delivering 311 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Additional sportiness is available with the F Sport package for the RWD 350.

2024 updates:
For the 2024 model year, the RC offers a new Cloudburst Gray color option for $500 and 19-inch dark-finished Enkei alloy wheels on F Sport models. Pricing for the regular RC models, including destination and processing fees, starts at $45,920 for the 300 and goes up to $55,195 for the 350 AWD F Sport. The RC lineup has been on sale in the U.S. since the 2015 model year, hinting at its impending 10th anniversary. It’s widely expected that the Toyota GR GT3 Concept will succeed the RC F.

The future and special editions:
It’s hoped that Lexus may introduce a few unique special editions as a fitting farewell to the performance coupe, similar to the Emotional Touring and Enthusiast special editions offered in Japan next year. These limited-edition models are anticipated to offer increased performance capabilities and serve as a perfect send-off for a car that often went overlooked.

The 2024 Lexus RC F models have continued to be refined and improved, making them even more competitive in the luxury performance coupe segment. However, the future of the RC lineup remains uncertain, with the potential for exciting developments on the horizon.
