2024 BMW X2: A stylish crossover-coupe with fresh design and performance upgrades
The 2024 BMW X2 redefines its identity with a bold new look, enhanced dimensions, and performance improvements
The 2024 BMW X2 has been unveiled with a fresh design that significantly distinguishes it from its predecessor, making it a distinct model in the BMW lineup. This new X2 represents a striking evolution in design and performance while maintaining the sporty character that sets it apart in the compact luxury SUV segment.
The 2024 X2 boasts an updated and distinct appearance that sets it apart from the recently launched X1. The key design changes include a sleeker, fastback roofline, distinguishing it as a crossover-coupe and aligning it with the X4 and X6 models. The new X2 is longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor, with a wheelbase that is also extended. These dimensions result in an expanded footprint, enhancing interior space and creating a bolder presence on the road. The exterior of the X2 features attractive design elements, with a short, wide grille outlined by an illuminated contour, standard LED headlights with unique vertical DRLs that also function as turn signals, and eye-catching details such as flush door handles and various wheel options, including 21-inch wheels for the X2 M35i xDrive.
Inside the cabin, the 2024 X2 incorporates BMW’s curved display and iDrive 9, which serve as the central control system for various functions. The design is clean and modern, minimizing physical buttons and knobs. There are four trim options for the vent strip, including a new aluminum finish, and a vertically oriented pad for wireless charging keeps the driver’s phone easily accessible. The console between the seats retains physical controls for functions like Start/Stop, volume control, and the electronic parking brake.
The new X2 offers a range of seating options, including Veganza animal-free surfaces in Black, Mocha, or Oyster, and two-tone combinations like Red/Black or Atlas Grey/Smoke White. The M Sport package combines Veganza with Alcantara sport seats in black with blue contrast stitching. A dark-tinted panoramic roof is available as an option.
Under the hood, the 2024 X2 is available in two variants: the xDrive28i and the M235i xDrive. The xDrive28i is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph sprint in 6.2 seconds. The M235i xDrive is part of BMW’s M Performance lineup and packs a more potent punch with 309 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, accelerating from 0-60 mph in less time.
The updated suspension includes various enhancements such as redesigned components, new aluminum hydromounts, an adjusted steering axle, and new wheel bearings. These improvements aim to enhance steering feel, turn-in, and cornering agility. The M235i model comes standard with an even more agile Adaptive M Sport suspension.
The new 2024 BMW X2 is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships in March 2024, and pricing details will be announced closer to its launch date. The X2 will make its public debut at the Tokyo Mobility Show later this month, providing more insights into this bold, stylish, and performance-focused compact luxury SUV.
The 2024 BMW X2 offers a dynamic and unique choice for enthusiasts and drivers seeking a striking design and spirited performance in a compact crossover-coupe. With its updated appearance, enhanced dimensions, and various performance upgrades, the new X2 aims to make a distinct mark in the luxury SUV market.
