In an exciting development, 20-year-old Carson Hocevar has announced a multi-year deal that will see him take on the role of full-time driver for the No. 77 Spire Motorsport Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series. Hocevar’s entry into the Cup Series marks a significant step in his racing career, as he replaces Ty Dillon and joins teammates Corey LaJoie and Zane Smith as part of the expanding Spire Motorsport team.

The team’s expansion to three cars comes after Spire Motorsport purchased a charter from Live Fast Motorsports, which will house Zane Smith. Hocevar expressed his enthusiasm for this career-defining opportunity, stating, “anybody in my position wants to be a Cup Series driver. That’s what you dream about when you’re young. You want to race on Sundays.” Hocevar’s previous appearances in the Cup Series have showcased his talent, and he feels more than prepared to make the transition.

Carson Hocevar, a proven race winner in the NASCAR Truck Series with three victories in the 2023 season, made his Cup debut earlier this year at Gateway in the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet. Despite an impressive showing, a blown brake rotor cut his race short. Subsequently, he had the chance to drive the No. 42 LMC Chevrolet after Noah Gragson and Legacy Motor Club parted ways, delivering solid results with four consecutive top-20 finishes.

Hocevar’s best Cup Series result to date was an impressive 11th place at Bristol. He is set to participate in the final four Cup races of the season with LMC before John-Hunter Nemechek takes over the No. 42 car in 2024. Despite skipping the Xfinity Series, Hocevar has made a handful of appearances in NASCAR’s secondary division this year, securing two top-ten finishes, with his highest finish being sixth.

Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson praised Hocevar’s talent and determination, comparing him to young stars like Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski. The team is excited to have Hocevar on board, confident that he will help elevate their competitiveness and work well alongside Corey LaJoie and Zane Smith. Hocevar’s relentless drive and infectious attitude make him a valuable addition to the Spire Motorsports family.
