Porsche is expanding its plug-in Cayenne range with the 2024 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid, the latest addition to the Cayenne lineup. This hybrid crossover SUV, set to arrive at dealerships next spring, bridges the gap between the Cayenne E-Hybrid and Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, with a starting price of $100,750 (including a $1,650 destination charge). For those interested in the fastback Coupe variant, the cost rises to $105,650.

A Cayenne S with a V-6, again

While the 2024 Porsche Cayenne S shines with its V-8 engine, the S E-Hybrid model takes a different route. It swaps the V-8 engine for a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 combined with a 130-kw electric motor, resulting in a combined system output of 512 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. Notably, this configuration offers 44 hp and 111 lb-ft more than the V-8-powered S variant.

With the added power comes increased speed, allowing the Cayenne S E-Hybrid to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds quicker than the gas-powered model without the Sport Chrono package. Porsche claims the Cayenne S E-Hybrid can complete a quarter-mile in 13.0 seconds, making it a tenth of a second faster than the V-8 version.

Like other plug-in Cayennes, it features a larger 25.9-kwh battery pack, an upgrade from the previous 17.9-kwh pack. Although electric driving range estimates have not been released yet, Porsche highlights that the Cayenne S E-Hybrid boasts an 11-kw onboard AC charger, enabling a quick recharge in approximately 2.5 hours using a 240-volt outlet.

Cayenne S E-Hybrid gains standard equipment

Porsche has equipped the Cayenne S E-Hybrid with a comprehensive list of standard features, including an air suspension with adaptive dampers. Visually, only the badging and dual filler flaps, one on each side, indicate its plug-in hybrid nature. Standard features also include a set of distinctive 20-inch wheels and quad exhausts with brushed stainless-steel tips. The exterior trim differs between standard Cayenne S E-Hybrids (silver) and Coupe models (black).

Inside the cabin, occupants will enjoy eight-way power-adjustable front sport seats, a Sport Chronograph package that adds a drive mode switch to the steering wheel, stainless-steel pedal pads, and silver-painted trim. For added comfort and convenience, a front passenger screen and a new air purifying system are available options to enhance the driving experience.

If the Cayenne S E-Hybrid’s performance isn’t enough, the Turbo E-Hybrid, with its 729 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque, is already available, boasting a sprint time of 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. However, the more potent plug-in hybrid comes at a higher price point, with a base cost of $148,550 for the standard body style and $153,050 for the Coupe variant.
